Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic self-starter to join our multidisciplinary team. This individual will collaborate closely with our customers and company stakeholders to plan, design, develop, and manage software solutions. You will play a pivotal role in modernizing and advancing Kailos Blue, our web-based platform that manages DNA next-generation sequencing (NGS) assays for our R&D, Clinical Production, and Business Operations teams. This system streamlines the Clinical Laboratory processes, analyzes sequencing data, and ensures smooth operations from requisition to delivery. In the long term, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of the development and direction of the Kailos Blue platform.

General Experience and Skills:
The ideal candidate should have:

  • A comprehensive understanding of the entire software engineering process, including requirement refinement, estimation, design, development, and testing.
  • Proficiency in agile methods and rapid deployment cycles.

You should also exhibit:

  • Strong organizational skills to efficiently handle multiple changing priorities and projects.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, spanning sales, marketing, finance, bioinformatics, and scientists.
  • A knack for quickly mastering new skills, methods, and tools.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to convey results clearly and concisely.

Software Engineering Experience and Skills:
Mandatory qualifications include:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development.
  • Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails.
  • Expertise in Docker and Linux systems.
  • A solid background using relational databases.
  • Experience in writing and consuming RESTful web services.

Desirable skills (though not mandatory) encompass:

  • Experience working in AWS.
  • Familiarity with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data pipelines.
  • Knowledge of various bioinformatics tools.
